Baby Birthday Hoedown – February 2019

A young mother contacted us with:

Itโ€™s a 1st birthday party. We thought itโ€™d be cute to have a caller for square dance with the moms and babies.

Cute idea indeed! ๐Ÿ‘ถ

The party was booked but a few days before, the forecast was threatening rain! Uh oh. With canopies offered by both parties and an offer by us to reschedule with their same deposit transferred, if they wish… the party went ahead as planned!

We’ll let the client’s testimonial the next day speak for itself:

Awesome and Fun Caller Duo!

What a joy! We hired Adam and Diana for my daughters 1st birthdayโ€”a hoedown. They arrived on time and were super accommodating when it forecasted rain at the last minute. I provided an easy pop up tent and they brought their own as well, just in case.

The music and range of dances they taught us were really great. Diana helped us with the steps and was very patient with the fact that many of us had never done Square dance. Adam was a great caller and humored us during many inevitable missteps lol! Between dances they DJโ€™d and it was just tons of fun.

Theyโ€™re both square dancers themselves and I have no doubt theyโ€™d be great callers for any party situation. 10/10

Thanks Sionann! We enjoyed spreading the joy of square dancing to you, your family, and friends. ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ’ƒ Thank you again for sharing your daughter’s birthday with us!

Ranch Wedding – June 2019

A bride-to-be contacted us, wanting something a little different for her wedding – square dancing! Initially she was just looking for us to teach some introductory square dance to the guests. When the plans for a band didn’t pan out, we stepped up to provide recorded music. Over the months, as the planning continued, we found ourselves more and more involved until the final plan:

  • Violin concertos as the guests arrive for the ceremony
  • Microphone/PA for the ceremony
  • Special entry and exit songs, which we had to hunt down!
  • American standards for the pre-reception and meal
  • Guest participation first dance: square dance teach and dance!
  • Post party of guest requests!

We had our small setup for the ceremony, and large setup for the reception. Oh, and did mention this is all in Fillmore among horse stables and orange groves! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿด

It was a smash success! Thirty-two members of the wedding party and guests joined in for a joyous time learning to square dance, and the after-party included requests from Spice Girls to “theme from Jurassic Park”! ๐Ÿคฃ

Before we even completed our long drive home, the new bride had already sent in her testimonial!

Great music at a great wedding

These guys were super great as both square dance callers and wedding DJs. They provided excellent music during the ceremony, cocktail hour, rehearsal and dancing. They also taught us to square dance and played your standard wedding pop music so almost everyone got on the floor.

– Sarah G.

Thank you Sarah for the kind words and allowing us to be part of your special day. ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐ŸŽฉ

Block Party – September 2019

A Santa Monica neighborhood wanted to add something special to their 49th annual Labor Day block party, and so the call went out for:

Outdoor block party, mixed ages including kids. Would like a mix of line dances, square dances, contra dances for beginners.

That’s right up our ally! A quote was sent and accepted, and details were worked out in the time leading up to the party.

It was a bit of a drive, so we arrived early and started playing music prior to dance time. ๐ŸŽถ Then it was a simple line dance to get people’s attention and then about an hour of square dancing, We taught them the hot new country line dance and finished off with a couple of contras for the die-hards who were still going. ๐Ÿ‘

The next day, this testimonial arrived in our inbox:

Great dancing in the street at our block party

Adam and Diana were very professional (arrived early, were ready to go on time and brought all the equipment they promised), but also a lot of fun. They were flexible in dealing with our group of diverse ages and experience, and taught us a lot of fun moves and dances. They led us through line dances, square dances, and contra dances. We would hire them again.

– Lynn N.

Thank you Lynn! We had a blast dancing with you and your neighbors and look forward to the next time. ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Church Youth Group – June 2019

When a Whittier-based church youth group decided they wanted to have a hoedown, they did their diligence finding just the right dance caller for the job! After considering a few candidates (including the very caller who first taught Adam to square dance all those years ago), we were selected because of our dynamic as a married couple doing this together ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ’‹โ€๐Ÿ‘จ, as well as our versatility beyond only square dancing.

With assurances that we would only play kid and family friendly country music, we started off with a line dance for the early arrivals. As more showed, we launched into a contra and then right into a big circle for the basics of square dancing. Of course, a circle is the wrong shape, so soon they were in squares and leaning more calls until the concluding choreography to Take Me Home Country Roads. A quick hip-hop break with cha-cha slide (a line dance) led to another contra with even more kids participating, and finally a goodnight grand to close out the dance.

Great with groups of beginners

Diana and Adam arrived early, were flexible and made the event fun for 50 – 60 teen and pre-teen youth. If you can get them both like we did it is a special treat indeed. It was everything we had hoped for and more.

– Robert T.

Thank you for the nice review Robert. We had a great time dancing with the kids and hope to see you all again! ๐Ÿค

Simple Wedding ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ’‹โ€๐Ÿ‘จ – August 2019

A new groom ๐ŸŽฉ to be was looking for some background music for his wedding reception. No dancing, no speeches planned (although that didn’t stop the father of the bride ๐ŸŽค), and no special requests. Just simple. Not a problem we assured him, we can just hide in the corner and play the tunes. ๐ŸŽถ And so we did. ๐Ÿ‘

We had a very small wedding reception last month (about 80 people). We decided not to do the traditional reception, with dancing, loud music, etc. However, we realized we still needed some music to play in the background as people mingled. We put out a request for wedding DJs to play our little event. We specifically stated that we only needed a DJ for two hours to play low key (country) music in the background. We need some ambience while people mingled. We received a number of expensive quotes from DJ’s that wanted to charge us their “standard” wedding fee. This is when Diana and Adam Fanello swooped in to offer us a reasonable price. They read the description of our event and tailored a price that was within our budget. On the day of the wedding, they arrived on time, were professional, friendly and played exactly the type of music we requested. We are nothing but pleased with their services. I would recommend them to anyone…especially if they’re looking for country or barn dancing themed music. ๐Ÿ™‚

– Michael P.

Thank you for the testimonial Michael. We were very happy to be able to “swoop in” and play our little part in your special day! ๐ŸŽถ Congratulations once again.

Of course we aren’t limited to country, that’s simply what Michael wanted. If you want any pop, rock, new wave, standards, classical, soundtracks, children’s songs, Christmas tunes, blues, alternative, indie, western, or country from across the past eighty years of recorded music, our collection of ten thousand songs and growing are waiting to be played!
